The 34th annual Black History Month Observance Breakfast was held at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center Monday morning.
The breakfast honors individuals, organizations, and communities for their significant contributions. News Leader 9’s Cheryl Renee emceed the event.
The keynote speaker of the event was Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge. Fudge was first elected in 2008 and represents the 11th Congressional District of Ohio.
Several community leaders were honored at the breakfast. Lauren Chambers was the recipient of the 2019 Emerging Leaders award and the 2019 Unsung Hero award went to Ronzell Buckner.
Muscogee County Tax Commissioner Lula Huff was surprised with the Legacy of Leadership Award.
Proceeds from the breakfast are used to benefit local charitable organizations in the Columbus area.
