City of Houston declares June 9 as Maleah Davis Day


The City of Houston has proclaimed June 9 as Maleah Davis Day.

The body of four-year-old Maleah was found along a roadside in Arkansas on May 31.

Maleah went missing in early May and Derion Vence, is the primary suspect in her murder. Vence who was the fiance of Maleah's mother, has been charged with tampering with evidence.

Vence initially told authorities that Maleah was abducted during a carjacking. However, traces of her blood were found in Vence’s car that was located in Missouri City, Texas. Her later stated he out Maleah’s body is a trash bag and dumped the bag in Arkansas.

According to the Houston Chronicle, on Sunday, Houston community members will also march from city hall to the Harris County Jail where Vence is being held on a $45,000 bond.
